Ioannina is the region's largest city with about 150,000 people. It can be felt in the new district, which includes everything from modern cafes, restaurants, boutiques, shopping malls, etc. But just a few 100 meters from the seething metropolis, you meet a completely different Ioannina. In the Turkish neighborhood architecture is changing dramatically, and all the hustle and bustle disappears when approaching the old castle wall and the big lake. Inside the walls still lives part of Ioannina population among mosques and Byzantine palaces. Out on the lake is the small island Nissaki, the only island in Greece without a name. And here it is as if time has stopped among the friendly locals and the little crooked houses. We visit the mosque and passing through the Turkish quarter before we head over to Nissaki, which will be time for lunch and sightseeing. Among other things,we visit here the house where Ali Pasha was shot and the beautiful Perama Cave.
Remember: a sweater / light jacket for the bus, camera, comfortable shoes and a bottle of water.
