Meteora is one of the largest and most important complexes of Eastern Orthodox monasteries in Greece and all over Europe The area is surrounded by immense, breathtaking rock formations, 'sculpted' by the very hand of God, with high tops, conquered by men of strong faith and will, who sought to find the immortal life. No wonder why Meteora is truly a place 'out of this world'… Our journey will take us through some of the most stunning parts of Greece,crossing through beautiful mountain villages in the Zagoria Region and heading over the Katara pass into the alpine region. Through the village Kastraki and the city of Kalampaka we head to the 6 monasteries where we visit the largest and oldest ,the ''Gran Meteoron''. On the return we visit the picturesque and famous Metsovo for 1,5 hour approximatelly.Metsovo is a mountainous town of Ioannina at an altitude of 1,160 m.The town is famousfor it's local cheeses (Metsovone and Metsovela)and winemaking industries.In Metsovo you can visit the Folklore Meuseum,the Averoff Gallery operating since 1988,which presents 250 tables of importand painters of the 19th and 20th century.
Remember: a sweater / light jacket for the bus, a bottle of water, camera and comfortable shoes.
